Thank you, WorkforceLogic! Starting Monday, June 15th, as a WorkforceLogic employee, I will be on a one year assignment to a search engine company in Mountain View, CA. It's supposed to be interesting work and I expect to have Googles of fun! Veddy flexible work schedule - I should be able to accommodate my back problems and still be able to put in a decent number of hours.
It's been extremely frustrating, trying to find a job. I shoulda got da pieces of paper when I could. I came within 13 credit hours of two degrees, 20 credit hours for 3 - and burned out completely. I wish I'd been able to push through; employment would have been much easier to obtain.
That's in the past; the future has a paycheck for me.
Happy, happy, happy!

I suppose I should log in once in a while and post. Or at least check messages so I can delete them.
Still no job. Not a surprise; there's damned little call for a 52 year old, non-degreed, disabled female Computer Generalist. No matter how smart and experienced she is...
I've got one company in SoCal that has expressed an interest in hiring me for a telecommute job, but they're now nearly a month late in getting back to me. But in this economy, I guess I can't complain - I'm damned lucky there's anyone who is interested in utilizing my skills.
No great loss without some small gain department: The lack of income means I qualify for Pfizer's "Connection to Care" patient assistance program. I sent in the paperwork (sixteen pages worth - my 1040 was inordinately complex last year) a month ago, along with the appropriate prescription, and last Thursday got a supply of Neurontin (gabapentin) - no charge. So far, it seems to be working - today I reached the full dose level. Side effects have been minimal so far, the disorientation and mental fog passed fairly quickly. Primary effect? Wow... My subjective pain level dropped overnight from 7-9 (where it's been for nearly two months) down to 1-3. Evenings are still worse; the day's activity grinds me down. Pain level is running a pretty solid 6 right now. It would be very nice if the gabapentin mitigated the pain by itself. I would ***loooovvvvvveeee*** to be able to go off the morphine.
Way to go, STS-125! Glorious mission. I want my Hubble! Try to get up early tomorrow and catch the de-orbit burn for landing. KSC weather permitting, of course.
